The main difference between activity and sequence diagrams is that activity diagrams focus on the flow of activities, whereas sequence diagrams focus on how objects interact with each other over time.

TL;DR: I am happy with this solution to our simple security challenge. The most important features of the system work consistently and correctly. IMO it is a good solution. That said, I think one needs to be tolerant of having to debug some scenarios oneself, possibly help Abode debug problems, and be patient. Even my simple scenario encountered issues.
